Growing up in a creaky old house overflowing with books, I was enthralled early on with the power of writing. I grew up playing with words – crafting and creating, sculpting and shaping. My parents, both professional writers, served as frequent guides and editors. I earned my B.A. at Westmont College, double majoring in English and Religious Studies.

Since working as a writing coach in college, I have worked as a writer and editor in many varied capacities. In addition to raising three voracious readers and skilled wordsmiths, whom I homeschooled from preschool through high school, I have taught writing in homeschool co-ops and privately. I find delight in developing rapport with my students, helping them find their voice and guiding them in expressing their unique ideas. Born in New York, I have lived in seven states and homeschooled in six, including three extreme corners of the country: Alaska, Florida and the California/Mexico border. When not writing or teaching, I enjoy creating something from nothing: costume designing for local youth and high school theatre, designing and sewing garments and baking gluten and dairy free delicacies. With my two daughters and son in college this year, I am looking forward to spending more time pursuing freelance writing.
