  • Brave Writer 101: Guided Writing Process

An ideal place to begin! You’ll learn the Brave Writer approach by doing it alongside your child. Discover how to support writing without pressure, nurture your child’s voice, and grow powerful writing through exploration, conversation, and revision. This class changes how families see writing forever!

  •  Brave Writer 102: Learning to Revise

Now that you’ve discovered the magic of the Brave Writer process, it’s time to refine! Revision is part of the creative process, literally RE-VISIONING the initial draft to make changes to the content and/or how it’s written.  You’ll explore a variety of strategies with the help of your coach.

  •  Brave Writer 201: Academic Revision

Ready for academic writing? This class helps you partner with your teens and tweens as they transition into academic formats, such as the essay. Learn to ask powerful questions, help kids expand on their ideas, and preserve your child’s voice while they craft compelling nonfiction pieces.

 Building Brave Writers

This trio of classes invites students to explore writing through connection, creativity, and self-expression.

With a focus on freewriting, these classes work well between Brave Writer 101 and 102, but they can also be taken on their own at any time. Three options to choose from—pick your favorite or work through them all!

Building Brave Writers classes are direct student-instructor interaction classes. Parents can support from the sidelines as students navigate class on their own!

  • Building Brave Writers: Description

Delight the senses! Children describe real and imagined experiences using vivid detail. Expect word play, imagination, and fresh observations as they bring their world to life.

  • Building Brave Writers: Experience

Let’s capture life as it happens. Writers will focus on telling true stories from their own lives—learning how tap into emotions, utilize perspective, and reflect meaningfully through writing.

  • Building Brave Writers: Observation

Sometimes, the best writing comes from quiet noticing. In this class, students pay close attention to what’s around them—and then turn their observations into rich, thoughtful writing.
