The most important discussion your teens can have.

Teens live in an age of information overload, bombarded by contradictory headlines, viral videos, and AI-generated content.

How do they separate fact from fiction?

And how do they find their own voice?

Class Overview

Made With You in Mind

This discussion-driven class gives teens a place to wade through the noise of contradictory, sometimes uninformed content they encounter in social and academic contexts.

They will work through Julie Bogart's workbook, Becoming a Critical Thinker: A Workbook to Help Students Think Well in an Age of Disinformation (purchase of workbook not included in class price). In the book, students learn how to move from being passive, unaware consumers to active, analytical investigators.

Instead of working through the material solo, we offer you the magic of the classroom! Enrolled students will join a vibrant think-tank of their peers (under the guidance of our trained instructor) to discuss findings, test theories, and explore real-world applications.

One enrollment for the 2026-2027 school year!

We'll move through workbook material over the course of two sessions:

  • Fall: October 12 - November 20, 2026
  • Winter/Spring: February 15 - March 26, 2027

In this class, students will:

  • Spot the story — recognize bias, identify misinformation, and analyze the credibility of text
  • Navigate perspectives — uncover the complexity of a topic, see multiple viewpoints
  • Get comfortable with discomfort — make room for difference of opinion and shift from a posture of ranting to one of engaged listening
  • Build critical thinking skills — develop the habits of the curious scholar who knows how to think, not just what to think

IMPORTANT: This class includes live discussion meetings on Fridays at 3 PM Eastern Time. Meeting attendance (with camera and microphone use) is highly recommended. Need to miss a week? No problem! Students can work through the workbook and rejoin discussion when they return.
