We build academic writing skills through curiosity, creativity, and purpose. 

As your kids navigate an entire writing project from start to finish, they’ll experiment with engaging formats like timelines, tutorials, and newspaper articles. 

More good news: kids get to choose their own topic in each class—built-in motivation!

Whether your child is passionate about ballet, the Oregon Trail, black holes, or how to care for a bearded dragon, there’s a class in this series for you.

  • Middle School Writing: History Projects

Turn your child's curiosity about the past into meaningful writing as they explore the history of one of their favorite things. History Projects introduces students to nonfiction writing through the lens of inquiry, helping young writers connect with history in a personal, engaging way.

  • Middle School Writing: Nonfiction Projects

Brainstorming. Research. Drafting. Revising. Polishing. It’s all part of the writing process! And projects are the perfect stepping stone to these more rigorous academic skills. Students choose from five engaging formats to present their research. We’ll walk them through it all, step by step!

  • Middle School Writing: Passion Projects

What excites your child? Video games? Baking? Sports? Passion Projects is their chance to delve deeply into their favorite topic, using writing as a vehicle. We’ll help them connect their passion to real academic skills as they share their findings in one of five unique formats. 

  • Middle School Writing: Science Projects

Think like a scientist. Write like a researcher. As students explore a scientific concept that interests them, they ask questions, investigate answers, and communicate their findings. Through it all, we’ll embrace the sense of discovery and surprise that makes science so rewarding! 

Highlights of these courses:

  • Four weeks long and asynchronous, for maximum flexibility
  • Capped at 25 students who interact with each other, writer's workshop-style
  • Includes a live instructor giving personalized feedback to help writers grow
