Class Overview

Made With You in Mind

This course goes beyond simple application tips. We help your student uncover their hidden strengths and craft compelling stories from their unique experiences. Through engaging activities and assignments, your teen will learn to identify what makes them stand out, transforming their passions, skills, and experiences into scholarship gold.

The instructor will guide your student through

  • Highlighting their individuality
  • Crafting powerful personal narratives
  • Understanding the scholarship funder
  • Mastering the compelling mini-essay

College Scholarship Writing empowers your student to confidently approach scholarship applications, turning their journey into a powerful asset and paving the way for a more affordable higher education.

Instructor Kyriana Lynch knows firsthand how scholarships change lives. As a homeschooler, she earned a mix of institutional, state, and private scholarships that covered a huge chunk of her undergrad costs, then landed a fully funded PhD with a $30k annual stipend. In this limited-edition course, she is teaming up with Brave Writer to help you uncover hidden strengths, craft compelling stories, and turn your experiences into scholarship funding—in ways you might never expect!

Week by Week

Week One

Students begin demistifying the scholarship writing process as they investigate key strategies used by successful applicants. They'll finish the week uncovering their uniqueness and developing a profile of their experiences to use in applications.

Week Two

This week focuses on understanding funders and the specific challenges of grant writing. Students will pull specific examples from their "treasure chest" of experiences to flesh out into compelling stories.

Week Three

After investigating how and why short scholarship essays work, students connect their stories to particular funders as they craft the mighty mini-essay.

Week Four

This week is dedicated to intensive revision and polishing as students work with the instructor to refine their mini-essays and ready their writing to submit to funders.
