Brave Writer

Gamers Write! takes a research-based approach to crafting the elements necessary to convincingly play a character in a roleplaying game.

Students craft complex characters using research, art, and writing. They decide important features in the areas of plot, backstory, and character description. They make decisions about gameplay and action based on fantastical elements of the world, and plan new adventures within these parameters.

Syllabus

Week One

Gamers use our custom world-system to build their characters and uncover their backstory. Writers will connect with other participants to develop their shared history.

Week Two

This week, participants will use dice to determine their character's success investigating a mysterious situation. Characters work together as they use their wits to solve a puzzle.

Week Three

It's time for epic teamwork and combat. Participants develop their characters' special moves and team up with other players to tackle new challenges.

Week Four

In the final week, gamers will reflect on how their character has evolved and how they might level up next. Using the world-system and the knowledge gained in class, they'll craft the next adventure.
