Note
While Alias Anna is ultimately a story of hope and triumph, parents may wish to preview a few of the poems that depict World War II horrors. Soldiers hold a pistol to Sara’s head in “Shakedown” (pages 90—91), and hangings are described in “True Terror” (page 92) and “The Reaper” (page 93). These poems can be omitted without impacting readers’ understanding of the story events.
