Meet the Brave Writer Staff: Team Pixie Dust

Julie Bogart

Julie Bogart

Chief Enchantment Officer

Julie Bogart, head of all things Brave Writer, can be often spotted with a cup of British tea in one hand and a book of poetry in the other. Julie grew up in sunny California (home of the UCLA Bruins!) and now lives in The City of Seven Hills (home of the Cincinnati Bengals!). She homeschooled her five kids for 17 years plus has helped tens of thousands of families enrich their homeschool and parenting experiences. Julie loves being an "awesome adult," which includes running, kayaking, and traveling the world to visit her globe-trotting adult kids! Learn more >>

Cindy Clark

Cindy Clark

Oculus of Operations

Our Oculus of Operations, Cindy Clark is in charge of the administrative tasks that help Brave Writer run smoothly. Ask her to send instructions to access an Arrow subscription, coordinate and schedule online classes, or oversee a charter school purchase order and she’s on it. After homeschooling her four now-adult children, she can say with pride that the Grand Experiment was a success. Her kids are awesome adults who know how to teach themselves whatever they want to learn. Cindy loves gardens, reading, entertaining, and the joy of discovering something new. In 2013, when she began working full time for Brave Writer, she worried there might not be enough to do. She was wrong.

Jeannette Hall

Jeannette Hall

Marketing and Social Media Fairy

Frequent wearer of hats, regular watcher of Audrey Hepburn movies, and intermittent eater of white chocolate truffles, Jeannette Hall is Brave Writer’s Marketing and Social Media Fairy. She is both mom and friend to her four grown kids, all homeschooled. Home education led her into her chief passion as an adult: the arts! Music, film, dance, theatre, art, literature. Jeannette loves them all. She also enjoys her marketing and social media responsibilities for Brave Writer, especially since a cherished motto of hers is: “Home is where the Internet is.” She works in her pajamas most days.

Kirsten Merryman

Kirsten Merryman

Conjurer of Classes

Kirsten Merryman—language lover, avocado aficionado, and trippy traveler—is nothing if not alliterative. Brave Writer's Conjurer of Classes has been a teacher all her adult life, but she really learned how when she started homeschooling her two kids over a decade ago. Her son's motto as a toddler was "Me do it!" and she's been following her kids' lead ever since. When she's not facilitating online classes, you can find her watching musicals and Shakespeare plays with her daughter. Kirsten's background is in foreign language education. She speaks French and some Spanish and her husband would love her to learn Norwegian so they could emigrate to his favorite place.

Stephanie Elms

Stephanie Elms

Coaching Genie

The Homeschool Alliance’s resident Coaching Genie, Stephanie Elms, has experienced the magic in the truth of the saying: "There are no educational emergencies." Homeschooling her now mostly grown boys, Jason and Kyle, not only taught her about the importance of relationships but also allowed her to indulge her love of children’s literature under the guise of “educational research.” She is fascinated by Myers-Briggs personality types (ENFPs represent!) and is always on the lookout for pops of color in her life, which make her smile. She is happy to have found a home at Brave Writer despite her preference for coffee over tea.

Tia Levings

Tia Levings

Multi-Media Mage

As the Multi-Media Mage on the creative marketing team at Brave Writer, Tia Levings’ projects include dusting videos, contests, and the Brand Ambassador program with a healthy dose of pixie dust. She homeschooled four incredibly creative redheaded children and counts Big Juicy Conversations as her favorite legacy from those years of education. Tia’s chiropractor recently suggested that her neck was out of whack because her right-sided brain is so much more developed than the left. She writes, loves to be outside, and is happiest when there are big ideas and incredible food to share with friends.
