For nine years, I lived in Morocco where I savored the smell of mint tea and simmering couscous, daily saw lofty minarets and heard the scuttle of donkey carts delivering milk while my kids did math facts in the front room. Writing became my mainstay as I could no longer verbally process with family and friends miles away. I strove to capture my world through blogs, newsletters, and articles, evolving into a writer.
I have five children and have homeschooled for 15 years, sometimes on the go. Finishing a freewrite while riding cross-country in our old bumpy Moroccan four-wheel drive is an amusing memory. Packing excessive amounts of school books in my limited airline baggage, not so much.
I earned my B.A. in Communication at Miami University (Ohio) and recently completed a Foundations in Counseling Certificate from the organization CCEF. My passions resonate with the Brave Writer lifestyle, focusing on persons and encouraging the language that’s inside a person to emerge into written form.
I collect scarves, grow herbs, and love learning about cultures. I currently live outside of Chicago.
