After receiving a BA in history at Mary Washington University, I began my official teaching career as a museum docent, giving tours and educating school groups and tourists alike with stories from history. After several unfortunate incidences with live farm animals, I was more than happy to retire my historical clothing and become a mother to seven kids, ages 13 down to 5. I blogged for 11 years at Vitafamiliae.com, telling the stories of my young brood. Now I blog at my grown-up site: LoraLynnFanning.com and nurture the art of writing in the next generation of wordsmiths and storytellers. In addition to teaching my own children at home, I teach writing in local co-ops and at Brave Writer, including the class I developed – Journaling Jumpstart.
