Hejsan, Sawabona, Dumelang, Merhaban, Hello.

I greet you from the coast of the Western Cape, South Africa! Here you'll find the sea, the sun, and me. Here, the land teaches you that differences aren’t just to be respected, but expected.

I grew up a nomad, having lived across two continents, four towns, and two villages (that last one’s a bit of a stretch, but I digress). It is the home of homeschooling where my roots would come to settle, and my love for reading would spring. My love for writing, on the other hand, would come from the clickety-clack of my mother—an editor and writer—as she typed thought into art.

I am currently training to become a reading therapist, and my particular area of interest is in bridging the gap between children, who—like me—are on the spectrum and literacy. Writing was my way of speaking to a world that did not understand me. I can think of no better gift than to pass the pen along.
