I’ve been writing in some capacity ever since I began my first (and only novel) at age 9. I love writing everything from prose to poetry to papers, and sometimes I take much too long crafting Instagram posts. I can’t imagine a life without a pile of books, a pen, and a scrap of paper.
I received a BA in English from Milligan College and an MA in creative writing from Iowa State University. Not long after graduate school, we pulled our oldest out of public school and began homeschooling. Now 18 years later—with one in graduate school, one in college, and one in high school—we are nearing the end of our greatest adventure yet.
Not only have I delighted in working alongside my own three children as they developed (among other things) a love of words, but I’ve also been privileged to teach various writing, grammar, and literature classes for all levels at our homeschooling co-op throughout the years. I’ve been blogging about homeschooling and more for over a decade and have been a frequent contributor to various homeschooling publications and websites. I am also an avid hiker and lover of the Great Smoky Mountains, which I never get tired of watching from my own front window.
